BIC KIDS | GO MAKE WOW

Drawn by kids. Animated by adults. Watched around the world!

A truly global campaign that brought children drawings to life, whilst launching a fresh, engaging new crayon, from BiC. Let’s Make Wow.

The films showcased iconic landmarks in capital cities, including the Eiffel Tower and Tower Bridge, brought to life with charming, curious, and playful animated characters.

How it was made?

The Berry shooting team first hopped on the Eurostar to Paris to capture the footage that would serve as the canvas for the illustrated visual effects.. Multiple plates were captured, capturing the buzz of the city at some of Paris’ most iconic locations. The team then headed back to London to do the same at the iconic Tower Bridge (A Berry classic if you have been keeping up with their trend-setting FOOHs!)

A global call-out was then launched asking kids around the world to pick up their BiC crayons and draw the Eiffel Tower and/or London Bridge… with the best drawing(s) selected for animation!

Out of hundreds of children, TWO lucky kids were selected for the campaign, with their actual drawings being brought to life through Cel Animation.

Animation

Once the children's winning drawings were selected, they were digitised and scanned into computer software. Using a technique called cel animation—a form of 2D animation—the drawings were brought to life frame by frame. This process involves creating multiple iterations of the image, similar to stop-frame animation.

Did you know? 'Cel' is short for 'celluloid.' Originally, celluloid—made from cellulose nitrate and camphor—was used in animation throughout the first half of the 20th century. Today, however, cel animation has evolved into a digital process.

The outcome?

Released during the Paris 2024 Olympics, the social-driven content attracted local and global audiences, receiving 100k+views and large engagement across all BiC social platforms.

The animated Paris film (Eiffel Tower) launched first… with the London content launching a week later; showing a seriously sunny London day with fresh animation surrounding Tower Bridge.
