M&M’s | RED ONE

Whoops, looks like they nearly forgot to add M&M’s Red to the Red One movie poster…

The Berry and The&Partnership join forces to deliver a brilliantly cheeky FOOH campaign for the highly anticipated Christmas blockbuster Red One and its collaboration with M&M’s.

In this playful and eye-catching execution, the iconic Red M&M floats seamlessly into frame, perfectly positioning itself in front of a giant Red One movie poster billboard. The clever and simple visual delivers a fun, festive nod to the collaboration, leaving online audiences wondering whether it was real or just a bit of Christmas magic.

The CGI process began with modelling a balloon version of M&M’s iconic Red character. Deformers were used to create the inflated look, while texture seams and stitching—crafted in Substance Painter—brought the effect to life with impressive realism. The “balloonified” model was then rigged in Cinema 4D with a simple skeletal system, allowing Red to be keyframe animated into his signature ‘check me out’ thumb and arm gesture.

The Berry’s VFX production team captured the live-action footage on location, where Red was seamlessly tracked into the scene. To ensure accurate lighting, shadows, and reflections, the team utilised an HDRI image captured on-site, perfectly matching the CGI asset to its real-world environment. Finally, the Red One poster was composited onto the building behind Red to complete the scene.
