Protecting surfaces with VFX… and Dettol Protect 24

The Berry collaborated with CRAFT to handle post-production and visual effects for a fresh Dettol TV commercial showcasing their latest product, Dettol Protect 24.

The Berry team ingeniously crafted a subtle yet impactful Dettol "mesh," symbolizing protection against everyday bacterial threats on various surfaces like keys, phones, plates, mugs, school accessories, dogs and cheeky little monkeys. Not only was this mesh asset featured in the TV commercial, but it also seamlessly integrated into Dettol's comprehensive branding kit, becoming a consistent element across all their design assets.

The Berry VFX team engaged in an extensive research and development phase, exploring a variety of designs for Dettol before settling on the ultimate version. The chosen mesh design stood out due to its subtle nature, carefully avoiding distractions from the main action, while effectively conveying a visually clear and unmistakable sense of protective coating. The mesh was generated using Houdini, allowing for the creation of a procedural system that automatically adapted its shape to match the contours of the object.
