OTRIVIN | IT’S A MIST NOT A BLAST
It’s a mist, NOT a blast…
The Berry teamed up with their friends at Kode to create a nasal spray ad like no other for Otrivin, with a viral VFX (FOOH) piece of content. Playing on the visual trope of Otrivin’s new Nasal mist being a mist and not a blast, The Berry team created a CGI mixed reality piece that demonstrated the soft emission of their product in comparison to other generic products' usually sharp and harsh spray.
Using balloons to represent people's noses made for quite the show, showing off the clear difference between Otrivin nasal mist and its competitors. While Otrivin gently lifted its balloons, the generic nasal spray popped its own to oblivion. This wasn't just a fun way to get the product's unique selling points across, but it also brought some humour and key visuals to the film.
This project entailed modeling the Otrivin product in 3D software and crafting balloons that aesthetically complemented the branding. The Otrivin mist balloons were meticulously simulated to exhibit inflating and wind turbulence dynamics, while the animation of the generic nasal spray balloon bursting was achieved using Houdini.
Lighting and compositing of the balloons were executed using VFX grey and chrome ball references along with HDRI’s on set, resulting in an uncanny photorealistic result.
